Backstage

The scene opens on an overhead shot of a field of grass. There’s an eerie silence aside from the rustling of tall grass and leaves nearby thanks to the occasional gust of wind. The whole scene is draped in the dark blues of night

As the shot lowers to the ground, a figure can be seen amongst the grass, partially camouflaged with her green hair and dark clothing. Dressed in a #9 LA Rams Rivalries jersey, black cargo pants and black beat up sneakers, with her knees pulled up to her chest, her head resting on her knees and arms wrapped around her legs, Tyler Albright sits, gazing off into space, head slightly upturned to look up to the sky. The small, bright orange glow of a smokable of some kind sits between her fingers. Tyler’s voiceover can be heard

Tyler Albright: Let me begin with the obvious. I’m not like you. We aren’t the same. That’s not to say I think I’m better, I’m not that egotistical. But I am different.

She takes a puff of the smoke and holds it for a few moments before letting the cloud of smoke bellow out of her mouth and nose.

Tyler Albright: I’ve always been different. No matter where I went, who I hung around with, nobody wanted me. I was an outsider. An alien…

A beat of silence.

Tyler Albright: But then I found wrestling. I found people who seemed to be just like me and were successful doing it. It was just perfect! I started wearing merch of my favorites to school. For most, it made me even more of an outcast. But a few people actually started talking to me. I had found my kind.

A small smile forms on Tyler’s face

Tyler Albright: We just had the same idea. We wanted to be like the people on the screen… And so we did. We fitted a trampoline with ring ropes and emulated what we saw. Just a few stupid kids on a trampoline suddenly became a hub for fellow outsiders and we actually attracted an audience. Broken bones, ugly scars and some glass and shrapnel stuck in my body to this day… I wouldn’t change any of it

Another puff. This one is blown out rather than allowed to drift out on its own

Tyler Albright: Eventually, I decide I’m ready for more. Something bigger. The friends I made saw me off and wished me luck as I joined the nearest wrestling school and began working toward the big time! Truly a happy ending only celluloid could deliver, right?

Her smile falters just a bit.

Tyler Albright: Nope. It’s never that easy, is it? No, I put in the work day in and day out to get to where I wanted to be and when I finally got my shot… I lost. Over and over and over again. Week in and week out, loss after loss. But I don’t let that stop me. I keep working, I keep getting reps, I keep reaching higher and higher!

A breathy, almost forced chuckle escapes from the Tyler on screen as the voiceover becomes a touch more frantic

Tyler Albright: And guess what? More fucking losses! I was watching my only dream turn into a fucking nightmare right before my eyes. And on top of that? The fans, the people I thought were my people, began to turn on me. There were some who stuck with me, and I appreciate them. But by and large, they just trashed me when they decided I couldn’t cut it. So… there I was. An alien once again. So you know what? Fine. Fine. You want to turn your back on me, I’ll become the monster you’re too afraid to look at.

With a shaky hand, Albright brings the smoke to her lips and repeats the process again.

Tyler Albright: If I can’t win with what I learned, and nobody cares about me anyway, I’ll learn new ways to win. Dirty tactics, cheap shots, whatever. Fair game in my eyes. You all brought this out of me, so why shouldn’t I use it? Why not become the hostile invader you see of me? You wanted a reason to hate me so I’ll give you a fucking reason

Another frustrated chuckle from video Tyler while audio Tyler sounds far from a laughing mood

Tyler Albright: And what do you know? It actually fucking works. I start winning. I finally start almost resembling what I saw of myself way back on that trampoline. Trust me, it isn’t how I wanted to get here. But when you’re desperate enough, you’ll do anything. Don’t you dare try to tell me you wouldn’t.

Another puff. This one much calmer.

Tyler Albright: I don’t need you to agree with my way of doing things. But I expect you to look at the results before and after I changed my ways and tell me which is more successful. If you’re truthful with me and yourself, you know the right answer.

The Albright on screen takes one last puff before stubbing out the cherry on her shoe and putting the filter in her pocket to dispose of later. She stands up and stretches as VOAlbright continues.

Tyler Albright: This alien isn’t your friend. It doesn’t come in peace. It’s something dangerous. Go ahead, stay inside and hide. Out the window, when all is silent, something violent comes to life. Join it, ignore it, lash out against it, doesn’t matter. You’re a target regardless. Just remember… you brought this all on yourself.

On screen, Tyler takes one last look up to the sky before turning around and walking through the field, presumably where she came from as the scene fades out.

Match 1: Poema Tua vs Tyler Albright

The arena buzzed with anticipation as Poema Tua made her entrance, showing off her vibrant attire, which reflected her energetic persona. The crowd roared with encouragement for the rookie, signaling their support as she climbed into the ring, ready to make a name for herself against the more experienced Tyler Albright. On the opposite end, Tyler Albright walked in with an air of arrogance, drawing heat from the crowd with her disdainful smirk and taunts. As the bell rang, Biff Franklin excitedly announced, “And we’re off! Let’s see how these two rookies stack up against one another!”

The opening exchanges saw Poema take the initiative, showcasing her nimbleness with quick strikes and evasive maneuvers. She twisted and turned, delivering a fierce Tropical Twist Superkick that sent Tyler staggering to the ropes. “What a kick!” exclaimed Biff, while Seo interjected, “You can see Poema's natural athleticism shining through here; she fights with honor.” Tyler smirked, however, quickly regaining her composure. Seizing an opportunity, she pulled Poema down by her hair, earning jeers from the crowd.

Tyler leaned into her heelish tactics, utilizing the corner turnbuckles to her advantage. She trapped Poema in the corner, delivering a series of shoulder thrusts to the midsection before leveling her with a wicked dropkick that earned her a near-fall as she hooked the leg. The referee counted, “One! Two!” but Poema kicked out just in time. “That was close, and perhaps a bit too close for comfort!” Biff chimed in, giving the rookie a nod of encouragement. Seo added logically, “This could turn into a battle of endurance; Tyler’s experience is starting to show.”

After a hard-fought battle back and forth, Poema rallied with a comeback. With the crowd rallying behind her, she executed a flawless Island's End, bridging elegantly for a pin. Tyler kicked out at two, and the tension was palpable in the venue. Poema, fueled by their support, climbed to the top rope, looking to finish it. “She’s going for Good Night From the Waves!” Biff shouted in excitement. She soared high above the ring, performing a breathtaking backflip senton, crashing down onto Tyler with a thunderous impact!

The referee slid into position, counting, “One! Two! Three!” Poema's resilient effort paid off as the bell signaled her victory. The crowd erupted in applause, celebrating the debut of their new favorite.

Winner: Poema Tua by pinfall with Good Night From the Waves.

Match 2: Elena Douglas vs Xander Hayes

In this highly anticipated singles match between Elena Douglas and Xander Hayes, the atmosphere in the fairgrounds was electric, filled with excitement from the crowd eager to see who would come out on top. As the bell rang, Elena immediately took control with a cheap shot to Xander’s midsection, throwing the crowd into a frenzy of boos. She followed up with a series of vicious kicks, showcasing her chaotic evil persona. Xander, however, quickly recovered, launching into a spirited comeback with a swift Oof (Kitchen Sink) that sent Elena crashing to the mat.

Biff Franklin called the action, “And there’s the honor of Xander Hayes shining through! It’s clear he’s determined to fight clean!” Meanwhile, Seo Hyung Kwon analyzed, “Elena is a street fighter; expect her to look for every opportunity to bend the rules.” This prediction was spot on as Elena retaliated by raking Xander’s eyes, momentarily blinding him and allowing her to regain the upper hand.

The match saw its first dramatic near-fall when Elena hit her signature Stump Piledriver, the crowd gasping as Xander barely kicked out at two. Elena, visibly frustrated, escalated her aggression, keeping Xander on the defensive with a series of powerful strikes and taunts aimed at the crowd, which only fueled their hostility towards her. “She’s playing mind games now, every move is calculated,” remarked Seo as she locked him in her Dragon's Clutch, but Xander’s resilience shone through as he managed to power his way out, much to the delight of the fans.

As both competitors exchanged blows, the momentum swung back and forth. Xander landed a beautiful Deadlight Guntwrench Suplex, stunning Elena and the crowd alike. He followed up by building a head of steam, hitting a Sonic Boom (Discus Lariat) that sent Elena tumbling to the canvas for yet another near-fall, as she caught the ropes just before the referee’s hand hit the mat for a three-count. “That was dangerously close! Xander is on fire!” Franklin exclaimed, watching the tension build in the ring.

In the closing moments, Elena, desperate and feeling cornered, attempted her Phoenix Down (Curb Stomp), but Xander evaded and caught her off-guard with the Mile High Twist (Vertical Muta Lock). The crowd erupted as he locked it in tightly, but just as it seemed Elena would tap, she used her agility to roll free, scrambling to her feet. However, in her attempt to regain control, she went for another attack, only to be met with Xander’s perfectly timed Sonic Boom, this time connecting solidly. Xander made the cover and the referee counted: one… two… and three!

Winner: Xander Hayes by pinfall with Sonic Boom.

Backstage

The show cuts to Skylar Sweeney who isn’t in the greatest spirits this time. Following last week, she looks a little bit more annoyed than usual. This time around, she is not wasting time speaking her mind.

Skylar Sweeney: Yeah, that sucked.

She says those three words regarding her match last week with total directness.

Skylar Sweeney: I’m not happy. I’ve been thinking about it for a week. Last week’s match was not the way that I wanted to start out. It’s rather unfortunate that it went down that way, but I’m not about to cry about it even with the annoyance of that little ‘running up the score’ on social media from Victoria Drake…

Skylar pauses to roll her eyes at this.

Skylar Sweeney: At the same time? I didn’t come in here thinking that this was going to be easy. I had the exact same mindset when I first got to Seattle and started training there. I knew from the jump that it wasn’t going to be paradise. As a matter of fact, let me take a moment and tell a little story about that.

I walked in and there were these two girls…

They thought they were better than everyone else. They especially wanted to pick on me because I looked like someone that was weak to them. They got to me early on, I will admit that. But eventually, I was able to outshine them. I was able to be better than them. When I finally got to wrestle them personally and I beat them, they decided that they never wanted to mess with me again.

Skylar’s mood shifts. Her annoyance about last week has changed into a reflective reminder of what she’s capable of.

Skylar Sweeney: So when I found out that I was running it back with Victoria Drake again, that’s the first thing that I remembered. For the record, shortly after I handled those bullies they flamed out and never even made it to a local Indy. I’m not saying that I am going to run Victoria out of the business. That would be foolish.

But I can’t lose this time…

Once to a particular wrestler is one thing.

But twice in a row? It becomes a pattern and it becomes a wall and right before the Rising Stars tournament, that’s not something that I can afford.

I also have to think back to what got me here and I also have to remember that there are two very infamous alumni from the Seattle Wrestling Academy that yes, made it big, and yes have a combined seven… eight world championships between them on the main stage.

But they started out just like me being young and humble…

Only to let it all go to their heads.

That won’t be me…

Because this time?

I’m not losing…

Skylar makes her exit, determined to turn things around.

Match 3: Skylar Sweeney vs Victoria Drake

The atmosphere at the small fairgrounds venue was electric as the crowd buzzed in anticipation of the singles match between Skylar Sweeney and Victoria Drake. The lights dimmed, and the two competitors made their way to the ring, with Skylar, the crowd favorite, receiving a rousing reception while Victoria soaked in the jeers, a smirk plastered on her face. With the bell ringing, the match began with a test of strength, showcasing both women’s athleticism and desire to win.

Initially, Skylar gained the upper hand with her speed, landing a series of strikes that sent Victoria reeling into the corner. She followed up with a Snap Dragon Suplex, showcasing her impressive technical skills as the crowd erupted in cheers. However, Victoria expertly regained control, shoving Skylar back and delivering a ruthless Black Rose Knee to a kneeling Skylar, which drew boos and fueled her villainous persona.

As the match progressed, both women traded blows, with near-falls that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. Skylar hit a Rolling Sole Butt, dazing Victoria just long enough for a cover; the referee counted two before Victoria kicked out fiercely. Biff Franklin, from the commentary team, exclaimed, “What a fierce determination from Skylar! You can feel the crowd rallying behind her!” Seo Hyung Kwon added, “But Victoria is no slouch; she won’t take this lying down.”

Victoria then sought to exploit the rules, mounting a comeback with her hammerlock Crown Breaker, slamming Skylar to the mat and attempting a quick pin. Skylar barely escaped, prompting gasps from the onlookers as she kicked out just before three. With the tension building, it was clear both wrestlers were eager to end the bout, and the stakes were high.

As they exchanged strikes, the frenetic pace of the match hit a fever pitch. Skylar rallied back, connecting with an Exploder Suplex that sent Victoria crashing into the turnbuckle pads. With the crowd roaring, she climbed to the second rope, preparing for her signature maneuver. Leaping into action, she attempted a Calgary Crash, but Victoria adeptly countered, slipping behind to set up for her Widowmaker finishing move.

However, in a display of resilience, Skylar twisted away and managed to catch Victoria in the Cattle Clutch, her signature submission maneuver. As the pressure mounted and Victoria struggled to escape, the arena surged with excitement. Skylar held firm, and after several agonizing moments, Victoria was forced to tap out, unleashing a deafening cheer from the audience.

Winner: Skylar Sweeney by submission with Cattle Clutch.

Match 4: Tamara Samuels vs Jessica Carter

The atmosphere inside the packed fairground was electric as Tamara Samuels and Jessica Carter prepared to face off in a highly anticipated singles match. The crowd was split, with Jessica's experience adding a layer of anticipation against the fresh, chaotic energy of Tamara. As the bell rang, both women circled each other cautiously, seeking an opening.

The opening exchange saw Jessica utilizing her ring savvy, quickly taking control with a series of wrist locks and arm drags that forced Tamara to scramble to the ropes. Tamara, however, wasn’t going to be intimidated. She flowed back into the fight with a vicious slap across Jessica's face, igniting a heated moment that drew a mixed reaction from the audience.

Biff Franklin exclaimed, "What a shot! Tamara is definitely not here to play nice!" As the match continued, Tamara turned the tide, delivering a brutal Midnight Guillotine that sent Jessica crashing to the mat. The crowd gasped as Tamara smirked, relishing in the punishment she was inflicting. Jessica staggered to her feet, but Tamara seized the moment, executing her Black Rainbow Driver—a deadlift sit-out powerbomb that showcased her surprising strength. The pin attempt earned a near-fall as Jessica kicked out just before three, much to Tamara's dismay.

Seo Hyung Kwon noted, "Samuels is capitalizing on her strength, but Carter’s resilience is hard to overlook. She’s been in these situations before." The tension in the building mounted as Jessica finally regained her footing, retaliating with a slick Swinging Snap DDT, affectionately referred to as "Stunned Silence," and taunted Tamara with a kiss right before the move. The viciousness of this act stirred the crowd further as Jessica went for the cover, but Tamara kicked out at the last second!

The match escalated in intensity with back-and-forth exchanges that left both women on the brink. Tamara successfully executed an Into Darkness, the torture rack dropped into a devastating neckbreaker, but Jessica managed to roll out of the way at the last moment, leaving Tamara frustrated in the process.

With both women visibly exhausted, Tamara took the risk to go for her finish. She lifted Jessica up for the Black Dawn, an elevated double-arm DDT that promised a decisive victory. However, in a stroke of luck or instinct, Jessica wriggled free at the last moment, landing behind Tamara and quickly applying her Bonne Nuit headlock driver. The impact echoed in the venue as she covered Tamara, but it wasn't enough—Tamara's hand grazed the bottom rope just before the count of three!

With urgency growing, Tamara sprang back to her feet, fueled by adrenaline. She faked out an attack on Jessica, but it was a ruse. As Jessica turned to face her, Tamara swiftly grasped her and unleashed a shocking Grave Silence. Keeping Jessica vulnerable, Tamara pinned her down hard and after a quick count from the referee, the bell rang in her favor.

Winner: Tamara Samuels by pinfall with Black Dawn.

Backstage

The scenes open backstage with the arrival of the young and fiery Raya Hope Inella, she struts into the arena with a duffel in hand, glasses that are much too large for her face covering her eyes as she removes them giving a sultry, but gallant pose.

Raya Hope Inella: “Hello again Splat TV, its another week of Splat Wrestling and this time a new opponent for your Future IT girl to face. Last week’s match against Jessica Carter was exactly what I’d dreamed, although he reaction was a little less than.”

Raya offered a pout and then a slight shrug.

Raya Hope Inella: “Guess you shouldn’t underestimate the future of the business huh? That’s my thoughts at least.”

She smiles gleefully.

Raya Hope Inella: “Tonight though, our views have changed and we’ll be taking on someone I’m not as familiar with. Vesper Venom. She’s both rebellious and quite frankly not as readable as my previous opponent, but that doesn’t mean she’s completely unclockable and your girl has been studying very closely to find exactly what her weaknesses are, and I’m going to exploit them while I continue rising to the top. IT girl style.”

She takes her glasses off then staring into the camera.

Raya Hope Inella: “My aim is to be the rising star here in Splat and I am going to do whatever it takes to make sure that happens. I’ll run through whoever I need to, and make sure the world understands exactly who I am. My family legacy comes from the ring and you best believe, I’m going to take it to the next level. Its a fact.”

She gave a bit of a wave before sliding her glasses back on and carrying on into the arena.

Match 5: Raya Hope Inella vs Vesper Venom

The atmosphere was electric in the raucous fairgrounds, as fans filled the stands for a highly anticipated singles matchup between Raya Hope Inella and Vesper Venom. With the camera zooming in on both competitors, the anticipation was palpable, heightened by the old school wrestling vibe the venue embodied.

As the bell rang, Raya and Vesper circled each other, exchanging cautious glances before locking up. Inella, with one year of experience under her belt, quickly gained the upper hand with a headlock takeover, showcasing her technical skills. But Vesper, the newcomer with a chaotic streak, countered by shoving Raya into the ropes, launching her into a shoulder block that knocked Raya down to the mat. "Whoa! Vesper is bringing some heat," exclaimed Biff Franklin as the momentum shifted.

With the crowd firmly behind her, Raya mounted a spirited comeback, responding with a slick Heaven's Close tornado DDT, catching Vesper off guard. As she went for the cover, Seong Hyung Kwon chimed in, "Raya's showing that she can play both sides of the fence, but she's still a crowd favorite!" The referee's hand fell for a near-fall, Vesper kicking out just in time.

The action intensified as both wrestlers traded signature moves. Vesper executed her Magnet Shot corkscrew 630 senton that left the audience in awe, but Raya narrowly escaped the pinfall. The arena erupted as Raya retaliated with a stunning Code Raya, using her opponent's moment of vulnerability to her advantage. Another close two-count made the crowd gasp and rally behind both women, both fighters refusing to back down.

With tensions running high, Vesper unleashed the Venomous Kiss – her devastating superkick – but Raya sidestepped at the last moment! Vesper stumbled forward, and Raya seized the opportunity to deliver her trademark Future IT Girl slingshot moonsault. The arena vibrated with excitement, and both wrestlers were visibly fatigued yet determined.

As the match neared its conclusion, Vesper found herself in trouble, and Raya locked in her Ray of Light rebound short DDT, quickly going for the pin. The referee counted once, twice, and just before the third count, Vesper managed to kick out, leaving the crowd in shock. The energy in the venue reached a fever pitch as both competitors fought tooth and nail for victory.

As the final moments unfolded, Vesper surprised Raya with a sudden Golden Trigger, crashing her to the mat and immediately covering her for a critical two-count! The crowd gasped as both wrestlers battled through fatigue and adrenaline. They traded blows at ringside, exchanging strikes and taunts as Madoka Kawada, the authoritative General Manager, looked on with interest.

In a dramatic twist, Vesper regained composure and initiated a wild exchange, only for Raya to counter with the Ray of Hope, top-rope reverse hurricanrana! Inella went for the cover, the referee counted—one, two, three!

Winner: Raya Hope Inella by pinfall with Ray of Hope.

Match 6: Julian Ward vs Grant Maddox

The lights dim over the fairgrounds as the crowd buzzes with anticipation for the singles match between Julian Ward and Grant Maddox. Biff Franklin and Seo Hyung Kwon set the stage at commentary, introducing the match while the energy builds. As the bell rings, both wrestlers cautiously circle each other, sizing one another up before locking up in a classic wrestling collar-and-elbow.

Early on, Maddox utilizes his experience, pushing Ward into the corner and delivering a clean break. The crowd cheers, rallying behind the babyface's honorable approach. Ward, however, is unpredictable; he counters with a Boardroom Breaker (short-arm elbow strike) that stuns Maddox, creating an early momentum shift in favor of the rookie. The dynamic of the match alters as Ward transitions into a series of strikes, culminating in a Hostile Takeover (arm-trap knee strike), sending Maddox staggering back.

“Wow! Julian Ward is showing some real aggression here!” Biff exclaims, feeding off the energy. Seo adds, “This unpredictability might serve him well, but can he keep Maddox down?”

As the match progresses, Maddox regains control with a Delayed Vertical Suplex, holding Ward aloft for nearly fifteen seconds before slamming him down, drawing applause from the crowd. The momentum swings back and forth, with Maddox looking for his chance to finish with the Maddox Law (full-rotation discus lariat) but Ward narrowly dodges the strike, rolling out of the way just in time. The tension builds as both men recover.

In the middle of the match, both superstars exchange blows, creating a thrilling back-and-forth that has the crowd on their feet. Ward catches Maddox with a Minority Report (rolling cross-armbreaker) that pushes the hero to the brink. Just as Maddox appears to be fading, he manages to reach the ropes, creating a gasp from the audience. As both competitors make their way to their feet, Ward attempts his finisher, the Ward Directive (sudden ripcord knee to face), but Maddox counters with a pop-up spinebuster that flattens Ward! The impact elicits a gigantic pop from the crowd.

“What a counter! Maddox is showing incredible resilience!” shouts Biff. “That could be a potential turning point for him.” Seo acknowledges, “This match is far from over, both men are digging deep.”

With both men visibly fatigued, Maddox sets up for his Maddox Law once more. The crowd erupts as he spins in for the lariat, but Ward cleverly ducks and instead surprises him with a quick roll-up for a dramatic near-fall. The referee’s hand hits the mat twice before Maddox powers out, keeping the match alive. The near-falls keep escalating the drama, each time drawing gasps from the crowd.

Finally, in the closing moments, both wrestlers unleash their final attempts for victory, but in a stunning sequence, Ward, flipping a switch, finds himself digging deep. He manages to trap Maddox's wrist and transitions into the White Room Silence (rear naked choke transitioned from standing wrist trap). Maddox struggles briefly, trying to reach the ropes, but the hold is tight. After a moment of resistance, Grant Maddox reluctantly taps out, handing Julian Ward the victory.

Winner: Julian Ward by submission with White Room Silence.
